I’ve loved fashion and design since sixth grade, when my mom would bring home copies of W Magazine from a client’s house. I’d pore over every page, seeing fashion as art for the first time. It shifted my perspective—clothing wasn’t just something functional; it could be a bold, creative statement.
Growing up in a small Midwestern town, fashion felt distant, but that changed when I moved to Chicago for college. Trading a town of 2,500 people for an apartment complex of the same size felt like stepping into a new world. For the first time, I had the freedom to wear what I wanted and explore who I was. I thought I’d become high-fashion and edgy, but my Midwestern roots reminded me that functionality mattered, too.
After graduating, I worked retail, then got a “real job” that paid the bills. Somewhere along the way, life swept me up, and I let go of my dream of being a fashion designer—without even realizing it. Jobs came and went. I quit some, got fired from others, and felt stuck.
Then, I chased another dream: travel. I earned a certification to teach English as a second language and booked a one-way ticket to Beijing. It was the first time I made a big dream come true for myself—and I started believing that dreams are possible when you dare to pursue them.
Adventuress Knits is my way of chasing another long-held dream: creating designs that blend style with purpose. It’s about crafting pieces that feel both timeless and adventurous—functional but meaningful. It’s fashion, reimagined through the lens of creativity and exploration.
