Becky Tharp
I’m 32 and dealing with some health problems that are very disabling. At age 25 I needed a new hobby that I could do sitting down or even in bed. My mom had taught me the basics of crocheting when I was 12, so I decided to try it again and see if it was something I liked. Not only do I like it, but I love it! I loved learning all of the different stitches and discovering all of the different things that can be crocheted. Now there are not many crochet techniques that I haven’t tried (and mastered), and I’m beginning to write my own patterns. I especially love making things that are useful as well as decorative. As I write more patterns, I hope to focus mostly on things with a musical theme and disability-related items.
I’m also a classically trained musician (hence the username). I teach private piano and woodwind lessons and spend a lot of time playing various instruments. I love to read, learn new things, listen to music, go shopping, hang out with friends, and spend time with my two birds, Teddy the caique and Charlie the budgie. I used to spend a lot of my time outdoors doing things like hiking, biking, archery, cross country skiing, ice skating, and anything else that looked like fun. I may not be able to do those things anymore, but I’m still always up for an adventure!
