My grandmother and mother taught me to crochet and knit way back in the dark ages, I think I was 5. Then when I was a little older my mom learned how to knit continental style and realized that her left handed/ambidextrous daughter would totally benefit from this style of knitting. The world of knitting opened up to me.

Years later a wonderful yarn shop opened up in Fairhope. Being able to wander and caress all those beautiful yarns was better than chocolate! I was offered a job, started teaching and ended up designing new patterns for the shop. The owner retired and another LYS opened, Southern Twist Yarns. Brenda asked me to help her and we’ve been having a blast ever since.

I teach right or left handed, as well as continental or English style. The ladies at the shop call me the Fixer, whenever they have a problem, they come see me. If they need a pattern modified, they come see me.

I adore color, and I take pride in NOT coloring inside the lines!!! When a scrumptious yarn makes my heart sing, my fingers start itching to cast on and my mind starts racing to create something worthy of its loveliness.

When knitting and creating something new it’s the world outside that inspires me and I find nature reflected in my stitches. That’s how Waves and Shells got its name, from the patterns left on the beach, dotted about with wee little shells.
