I’ve been knitting (and to a lesser extent, crocheting) since high school. My favorite things to knit are dolls, toys, and other small-ish stuffed projects. In my own designs, I try to select subjects that make people say, “I didn’t know you could make that out of yarn!” I treat my knitting somewhat like sculpture, thinking outside the box about how I can achieve certain shapes and looks.
I love custom requests and projects - they challenge me to create something unique, and broaden my horizons to new interests.
As for myself, I’m a huge geek. I love classic and retro sci-fi, and many of my designs reflect that.
Overall, I’m driven by the belief that toys aren’t just for kids. I think everyone needs a little whimsy in their lives!
(Pattern Note: In nearly all of my designs, gauge is not important. I generally don’t provide specific yarn data for the projects because I encourage you to experiment with using whatever yarn you have available, provided that you adjust the needle size accordingly to make a tight knit fabric. I usually go down 2 needle sizes from the recommended size on the yarn label. Toys are great stash-busters! I personally prefer using acrylic yarn for toys because it’s durable and washable.)
