Ingrid Koch
When I was 8 or 9 years old, I saved my money for several weeks and spent it on a skein of yarn, a pair of knitting needles, a crochet hook, and a “Learn How To Knit, Crochet and Tat” booklet. With those materials, I taught myself how to knit and crochet and my love for fiber took root.
I love to collect machines and currently have a Legare 400 antique circular sock machine, 5 flatbed knitting machines, 3 treadle sewing machines, 9 vintage sewing machines (all electric), a 1977 Necchi Lydia 3 that I bought new, a Janome embroidery machine and a Toyota serger.
Fiber and playing with string has been my lifelong passion. My yarn and fabric stashes exceed SEELE by eons! My dream is to have a place in the country with a LARGE heated pole barn or shed that I can make into a studio for all my fiber hobbies…hand and machine knitting, crocheting, sewing, dyeing yarn, felting, weaving and quilting (both for personal use and also for charity).
I am a circular sock machine knitter and product designer and have enjoyed teaching those new to circular sock machine knitting how to knit on them, how to troubleshoot, basic mechanical stuff, and whatever else I can share. It is always a joyous moment when someone has finished their first sock!
I have taught my youngest daughter how to knit, crochet, quilt and weave.
