Let’s start with this: Victoria Light really is my name, the one given to me at birth. My nickname is Tory and my married surname is Sonstroem. My charity knitting projects, personal friends, etc. are on Rav at torysonstroem.

Victoria Light Designs is my second act career in knitting, crochet, sewing, and other professional handwork. I have had projects published in the Stampington magazines GreenCraft, Altered Couture, and Belle Armoire, in knitty magazine, WeCrochet, and in Annie’s Creative Knitting, Crochet!, and Crochet World. Interweave and Leisure Arts have also purchased some of my designs. A couple of my knitted pieces have appeared in juried art and fashion shows.

I authored the essay “Hunters, Gatherers, Stabbers, Grabbers” that appeared on Edie Eckman’s blog (edieeckman.com) on 2/20/19.

In 2021, I won the garment division in Crochet Guild of America’s People’s Choice Awards competition. That pattern is now available in Crochet! Spring 2022. (It is the cover photo.)

Like many others, I spent lockdown learning a new skill -- garment sewing in my case. It has been a great compliment to my knit/crochet skills -- they all inform the others.

I have taught at KDO (Knitters Day Out), the Chain Link conference, and Stitches SoCal, and at big box craft stores. (Hoping those stores bring in-person classes back -- I miss them!)
