Apricity Shawl
This pattern shares a cable motif with my Apricity Socks pattern, bordered by lace panels. Apricity means “the warmth of the sun in winter” – and this shawl can certainly provide additional warmth while you wait for spring to arrive or as summer fades into autumn.
Yarn/size options:
Fingering shawlette (fingering shawl, DK shawlette, DK shawl)
While details are given for fingering and DK weight yarns, you can work this shawl in any weight yarn you wish. Just stop when you have used 90% of your yarn (or desired size is reached) and then work the border.
Yarn:
400 yards (800 yards, 500 yards, 750 yards)
Needles:
Fingering weight: 3.5 mm (US size 4) circular needle (or size for gauge)
DK weight: 4.5 mm (US size 7) circular needle (or size for gauge)
Garter Stitch Gauge (before blocking):
Note that gauge is not crucial. You can use any needle size that gives you a pleasing fabric.
Fingering weight: 21 sts and 42 rows (21 garter ridges) in 4”
DK weight: 16 sts and 32 rows (16 garter ridges) in 4”
