Japanese Lace Shawl combines traditional garter stitch with a delicate Japanese Lace pattern stitch. The Shawl is worked with Dragonfly Fibers Pixie, Merino single ply yarn in Marilyn’s Lips and Winterfell.
Finished Measurements:
Approx. 89 in (226 cm) length, approx. 19 in (48 cm) depth, blocked.
Yarn:
Pixie by Dragonfly Fibers, Fingering, 100% Merino, 430 yards/113 gr, 1 skein in colorway Winterfell (black) (MC), 1 skein in colorway Marilyn’s Lips (red) (CC). http://www.dragonflyfibers.com/
Needles:
32 in (80 cm) size US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle. Optimal choice would be an interchangeable needle set to easily switch cords as stitches increase. For an interchangeable needle set use cord lengths 14 in and 22 in.
Notions:
Cable needle, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Materials for I-cord with Tassels (Optional):
3 in x 2 in piece of cardboard, 2 DPNs Size US 4 (3.5 mm).
Gauge: 23 stitches and 29 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in Garter stitch, washed and lightly blocked.
Notes
- This triangular shawl starts off at one end and increases to the center lace section. Then decreases mirror the shape of the first half of the shawl to finish at the other end.
- The pattern comes with written and charted directions.
- This pattern is for intermediate level knitters. The lace is worked on right sides and wrong sides. The garter section provide a break in between the lace section.
