Kits available at the Fibre Co website in fall and winter palettes!

Melrose is a top down circular yoke with asymmetrical floral motifs. It is a deviation from the typical geometric Fair Isle colorwork style. Whether made up with multiple colors or monochrome, it can become a fun staple in your wardrobe!

This is a DK top with a scoop neck and higher neckline options. Check out its sport weight sister pattern in the “rose” series, Montrose!
“Rosalina”, the matching child pattern will be released this fall.

Yarn:
The Fibre Co Amble 325m (355yd) per 100g and 81m (88yd) per 25 g mini-skein
MC: White Heather
CCs: C1: Buttermere, C2: Yellow Earl, C3: Wild Rose, C4: Hollyberry, C5: Catbells

Note: Although Amble is a fingering weight yarn, its 20% alpaca content contributes to blooming (growing in size) after wet blocking. This along with the ladder back jacquard creates a 22 sts/4” gauge fabric. I highly recommend blocking your swatch and using all techniques in chart to get an accurate gauge for your final garment. (omitting ladder back jacquard will lead to puckering and tighter gauge.)

Needles:
US size 6 (4 mm)
US size 4 (3.5 mm)
US size 8 (5 mm) for high neckline option only

Gauge:
22 sts and 25 rounds over 4” 10cm in colorwork and slip stitch pattern, knit in the round

(The second sample is made with Berroco “Modern Cotton DK” in MC “Spinnaker”, C1 Fort, C2 “Coffee Milk”, C3 “Breakers”, C4 “College Hill”. it uses C4 and C3 for a color block and hem at bottom of the top).

See my project page for tips on 3 color knitting (the Fibre Co sample with white MC). More intermediate knitters may want to opt for 2 color knitting (like Berroco sample with pink MC)
