Looking for a super-bulky pussyhat pattern that is mindless but requires a smidge more in the way of skills? A top-down design? A fake seam on a knit-in-the round hat? Stiffer ears? Endlessly adaptable, crazy easy? Perhaps this pussyhat pattern is for you.

Based on the very excellent Super Cat Hat by the very excellent Destiny Meyer.

• short-rows for perkier ears
• suggestions for stranded additions

SKILLS

• either Judy’s Magic Cast-On or provisional cast-on
• kitchener or 3-needle cast-off
• stretchy bind-off like Jeny’s or Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Sewn Bind Off
• short rows (optional)
• knitting in the round
• knit & purl

MATERIALS

• one skein of smooth, non-novelty super-bulky pink yarn
• US 13 - 9.0 mm or US 15 - 10 mm DoublePointed Needles (DPNs) and/or circular 16-inch knitting needles
• US 17 - 12.75 mm DPNs and/or circular 16-inch knitting needles OR size needed to obtain gauge
• 2 stitch markers
• 4 ft of cotton waste yarn (optional)
• darning or yarn needle (optional)

1. Provide the people of the Women’s March on Washington D.C. a means to make a unique collective visual statement which will help activists be better heard. (this means a sea of pink hats!)
2. Provide people who cannot physically be on the National Mall a way to represent themselves and support women’s rights.
