Neblig
Neblig is a textured hat made top down in the round. Using variations on single crochet and half double crochet stitches, this hat uses a stitch pattern similar to my Nebel ear warmer.
Neblig is the German word for foggy. I used to live in Ingolstadt, located along the Danube River valley. Due to the valley and the weather, it is often foggy in the morning. This hat was perfect for keeping my ears warm on those foggy winter days.
Tools and Materials:
- 5.00 mm H/8 and 4.00 mm G/6 crochet hook or hook sizes needed to achieve gauge. Some testers needed to use a 4.00 mm G/6 to get gauge for the main portion of the hat, and then went down to a smaller hook size for the ribbing.
- tapestry needle and scissors
- approx. 0.75 skein worsted weight or Aran yarn
Sizes: Three sizes – Small/Medium/Large, with a circumference of 51/53.5/56 cm 20/21/22 in designed to fit a head circumference of 53.5/56/58.5 cm 21/23/23 in around. The height of the hat (from crown to brim) is 21/22/23 cm 8/8.5/9 in. You can adjust the height of the hat by changing the number of pattern repeats crocheted.
Thanks to my testers redcabbage, Jani22, and dawnlambert88.
