I’m Wendy, designer/host of West Coast Fibre Arts, and I live in Cumberland, British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada, where the (usually) mild winters and warm summers make gardening and outdoor activities a true pleasure. On those days when the rainforest lives up to its name, I spend my time playing with fibre…knitting, crocheting, spinning, dying. I am also absorbed in the study of women’s history and women’s writing.
I have been enchanted with the Victorian and Edwardian eras since early girlhood, since I first discovered my grandmother’s romance novels and L. M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables series. This is reflected in the amount of time I spend both working on Recyling, Rewriting & Redesigning patterns I find in publications of those times, and in the novel I am currently writing--set in the late Victorian period and featuring parlourmaid Kate Mathieson, following her adventures, misadventures, and mysteries, as well as period recipes, knitting/crochet/and other “Fancywork” patterns, and more.
