Spinning this interesting cross for this year’s spin in. I have just over 13 ounces of batts in the box. Not sure I’ll spin the whole box, but I think I’ll try. It is spinning pretty fine and although there are some noils and neps, there is no VM. The fleece prep I did last year came out really nicely!
I think I would like a sweater from this yarn. Not sure if I’ll do a 2-ply or a 3-ply. I think I’ll do a small sample of each. and see what I think. I’m spinning on the Norwegian so unless I rewind the bobbins onto storage bobbins I’ll have to ply on the Herbie if I decide on a 3-ply. Norwegian only has 3 bobbins.

I ended up doing a 3-ply since the singles were spinning pretty fine. The first three skeins are finished and washed. They are pretty darn consistent! They didn’t really puff up so I think they are more in the realm of fingering weight than sport.
Skein 1: 73 g (2.6 oz), 297 yards
Skein 2: 90 g (3.2 oz), 368 yards
Skein 3: 56 g (2 oz), 215 yards
I’m starting the third bobbin of the second batch today.

I plied up the last of the second batch last night and will wash it today. I ended up with two bobbins ending at about the same time and the third one with a significant (?) amount. So when the the two ended I just began chain plying. It ended up to be about 14 yards of chain ply. I. marked that end when I wound off the skein. Today I’ll wash the second batch (2 skeins) so I can get them measured and get this sweater quantity put away. I’m eager to start something else.
Skein 4: 92 g (3.3 oz), 407 yards
Skein 5: 64 g (2.3 oz), 245 yards
14 yards of this skein are chain plied and won’t be used unless necessary to win yarn chicken!
Total for this spin: 375 g (13.4 oz) 1532 yards
