Yet again with the trailer curtains.
This first warp will be for the side curtains in the front of the trailer. Driver side will be two woven panels at full weaving width of 36” with hems at each end, cut in half and rod casings sewn at the other end. Total of 4 curtains. Passenger side will be one woven panel of the same size and will become two curtains. 6.5 yard warp.
The second warp will be for the front curtains and bathroom curtains. Front curtains will be made from one panel as above, cut and sewn into two curtains. Bathroom curtains will come from a slightly shorter panel of the same width. 5 yard warp.
I decided to split this because I didn’t think an 11.5 yard warp was a good idea.

One more bout of warp wound today. I think there is one more to wind. I am trying to be conservative about how many threads on the warping board before I pull it off and start a new on. It’s a real bummer when the warp starts popping off the warping board because it is over full.

Finished weaving the 6.5 yard warp. It is three large panels, each of which will be cut in half to make 6 curtains. Four for the two windows on the driver’s side and two for the window on the passenger side of the “dining room.”
Next up will be another batch of fabric for the front window and the bathroom window.

Washed and dried the fabric. Sewing will wait a little while.

Second warp has been wound, tied onto the old warp, and knots pulled through the reed and heddles. Ready to start winding on. I think I’ll need help from Robert.

Finally jumped in and wound the warp onto the back beam. Robt cranked and I yanked (and plucked and pulled).
It looked like it would be a terrible mess, but it worked. I had the lease sticks in and was able to move from bout to bout straightening the threads with tension and then he would wind and the lease sticks were really what was providing the winding on tension.
In other words, I wasn’t pulling on the bouts as he wound them. It seemed to work. We’ll see if I have issues as I move into the warp further. I’m now about 20” in.

Starting the last of the three panels.

The warp is off the loom. Now to wash it up and get the curtains sewn.

The second warp was done by tying on to the first. This was the first time I had done this and it was a little worrying to see the mess of knots! But I was able to pull them through and the winding on wasn’t that much more difficult than my usual F2B warping. I think that the slowdown was really about the width of the weaving more than the tying on of the warp. Warping the full width of the loom creates issues at the edge of the beam if the paper placer isn’t careful!
(That being Robt! Actually he was a little too careful and the edges lost a little tension as I wove. But it worked out with some weights hanging off those threads at the end.)
This weft is slightly different than the weft for the first batch. Enough so I couldn’t mix them but not enough that it will matter when hung in different windows.
One thing I didn’t realize about tying on is that I wouldn’t be able to weave right up to the time the knots were at the back of the heddles. Before that point I was unable to get a shed due to the tangling of the knot ends. So I was unable to finish the third panel with a tabby hem.
