What a fun pattern to use with variegated yarn! Designed for two colors, but it came out great with my two variegated held double. I think it would also be great with a single variegated yarn.

Due to my tight gauge the hat is too small for an adult. That’s ok because I was making this as a child’s charity hat. But the next one I will do with an additional pattern repeat. I know that will mean a change to the decreases but I think I can figure something out. Might have to add more than one pattern repeat. First hat finished 2/21/21

On the second hat I decided to just make 4 additional pattern repeats. The circumference in the pattern is smaller than I usually make an adult hat so I thought it would be ok and not make the hat unusually large. It didn’t (with my gauge). Since it takes longer to decrease the hat is slightly slouchy--which I like.

The decrease rounds weren’t hard to adjust since I had learned the logic of the pattern in the first hat. I wasn’t able to use the decrease rounds as written, but it wasn’t hard to adjust. Second hat finished 2/27.

For a hat size that is midway between the two I think I would do 2 extra pattern repeats and in the decreases have them divided so the groups of repeats alternated. One group between stitch markers as in pattern, one group with an extra repeat, one group as in pattern, one group with an extra repeat.
