Starting this project with last year’s Stitches yarn. I was originally planning a tee, but decided I had to make this beautiful cardigan with fun traveling stitches.
I decided to cast it on all in one piece (not seamed) and my gauge was smaller so I did some calculations and decided that with my gauge the medium stitch counts would give me the size of the small. Perfect! Looking forward to seeing this come together.

Finished the third repeat of the lace/traveling stitches pattern. Next I think I should put it on a longer needle and check the size.

Ripped back about an inch to fix a mistake. It took over an hour, but all is on track again. This has been languishing since early April when I had my fall. Just haven’t had the attention span or desire to do the ripping back and figuring out where I am. But now I’m back to it and have recouped what I ripped. Onward!

Had a moment of confusion when I couldn’t figure out why I was doing 12 repeats of lace pattern before separating for sleeve when the pattern called for fewer! Then I figured it out. My stitch gauge AND row gauge had to be recalculated. My past self had done the calculation correctly and had written a note on my pattern, but I didn’t remember. I’m now at about 15.5 inches and with the hem length that’s the correct length in the schematic for the body (from underarm, down). Finally ready to start the armhole shaping.

I somehow ended up with too many stitches on the back during the armhole shaping. Ugh! So when I finished with the decreases I still had about 10 stitches too many. I’ve decided to just do an additional 5 or so decrease rows in the part that was supposed to be knit straight and get it to the right width. I hope this decision doesn’t come back to bite me. I compared the sweater size with a sweater I like and I think it will be ok.

Finished the sleeves with about 3/4 length. All that is left is ball of yarn smaller than a walnut. Washed in the washer, blocking to open the lace and make sure the upper arms are blocked a little bigger.
