I’ve been working on this since the beginning of December and I have 11 octagons done. The pattern calls for 16, but I think I will do a 4x5 octagon blanket, so I’ll need 20. It feels like I have more than enough yarn.
I think I will start to do some of the squares so that I won’t end up doing the squares with all the same yarns that I bought the most of and that are left over. I want the colors to be well distributed throughout the different sized pieces.
I took the black and white photo to see how the color values were working. I want the blanket to look as though it has many different sized flower patterns all joined together, rather than looking like the same octagon just done in different colors. I think I am succeeding so far.

I started 5 squares last night. So now I have the last 3 rows of about 7 squares. I haven’t worked on anymore octagons for a couple weeks.

I’ve decided to make the blanket 4 octagons by 5 octagons. So that changes the numbers of each that I’ll need to make.

Realized while talking to Marsha that there is an edging to the blanket after I put it together. No wonder I have so much yarn left! LOL! Really Kelly, it does pay to at least skim the entire pattern before you start.
