The wool leftover from these projects seems way too lovely to tuck away in the yarn-stash hassock in the study. This pattern, the perfect way to use leftovers … and a great little project to take along on our upcoming travels (seriously, who likes three-hour layovers in any airport?)

Plus, I seriously doubt that there would ever be a Brooklyn Tweed pattern that I did not love. Ah, if only I had an unlimited supply of those finer wools …

Could find no other yarn in my stash that would swatch the same as this yarn, so rather than purchase a couple more skeins to make a hat that works great for utilizing leftovers, decided to simply make the entire hat with only one color.

Have several partial skeins of patons classic wool in my stash that all knit up the same, so will make another hat using those multiple colors oncer I finish this one.

Leaving tomorrow morning for two week vaca in So Cali … taking a full project bag for the airport waits, flight and leisure time on the beach.

Because I wanted to make this hat entirely from leftovers in my yarn stash and did not happen to have any other wool that would knit the same in a test swatch, I made the entire hat in one colorway. While I find the color lovely, now that this hat is nearly finished, I find it a bit boring and in need of more pop, so I’m considering some simple embroidery just above one section of the brim. I found a lovely sampling of embroidered flowers on the Knit and Purl blogspot … and when I return home from our southern California vacation, I will add something similar to the embroidery on the small purse I found on that website.
