What I’ve done to keep my place with this shawl is to copy the 16-stitch chart and make 24 index cards, each with the chart on it. I use a highlighter marker to mark off each row as I finish it, and when I’m done with the 20-row repeat, I flip the card and continue on to the next. This has been extremely helpful in finding my place again after taking a long hiatus from the project.
To complicate things, I lost one of the tubes of gold beads I bought when I started the project. The store at which I purchased the beads no longer carries that brand. So I bought the closest thing to it--two tubes of gold beads with green and purple centers (the current bead is gold with silver centers)--and one tube of purple beads. I’ve been gradually mixing in the new beads, which will fade into all of the new gold beads and then transition again to all purple. I think it will be smashing when it’s done :)
This is a fun project to work on in public. People see the sparkly beads and the pointy needles and they want to know what you’re up to.
Blocking tomorrow! Should have final pictures Monday :)
Final pictures posted! Unfortunately, the color looks nearly blue in the photos, and the real deal is unmistakably dark juniper green. Otherwise they capture the piece nicely :)
Update: Stole won First Place in its category and Best of Show (Needlecraft) at the Grange Fair this weekend :)
