Note that the pattern is written for size small women’s hands. When it says that the gauge is super tight to be warm, etc., it’s not kidding. In the US, where folks tend to be a little larger, the mittens might better fit a pre-teen girl. I have an aunt with small hands, so they’ll go to her. I’m not disappointed, but I do want to point out that if you want them to fit larger hands, make the men’s size.
