“Freeform crochet has its origins set in the late 1960´s and early 1970´s. During this time textile artists were looking to explore the way in which they expressed themseves through their medium and Freeform crochet was born. The term “Scrumble” was coined by two UK fore runners in the freeform movement - James Walters and Sylvia Cosh. A “Scrumble” uses a variety of crocheted organic shaped and textured pieces which are later joined together either by sewing or crocheting in order to make one continuous piece of fabric.“
