Notes

This is the second scarf I have made using this pattern! The first was in Slytherin colors. I followed the same mods as the first so much of what is to follow is a cut and paste from the other with the corrections made for different colors and size change.

I followed the pattern for knitting in the round and cast on the 90 stitches. I cast on with the recommended provisional cast on because I wanted to graft the ends then put on the fringe. My needle in my right hand (I am right handed) was the US 8 and US 5 in the left to speed the knitting a little and it worked wonderfully! I used the number of rows between colors as the pattern said and I completed 14 total sections. With my gauge, that gave me a scarf 90 inches (98 with the fringe) long and 9.5 inches wide on the blocking board! I did not try to stretch it at all. I did make the fringe 10 inches rather than 8 so I would be able to do some trimming.

To help with the color jog, I lifted the stitch just under the first stitch of the round as I came to it and knit it together with that first stitch and it helped tremendously! I clipped the yarn and started a new piece of yarn for each stripe as I was afraid I might have it either too tight or too loose. It just meant weaving in a few more ends.

I ordered the Gryffindor patch from Amazon and washed it by itself as I did all the yarn. I skeined it, soaked, dried and caked all the yarn before starting as I feared the Hollyberry would transfer to the Honey colored yarn. There was some bleeding, but not much.
