I’ve discovered as I’ve been making hats with variegated yarn that if you line up the colours as you join your strip you get a cool stripe of colour running vertically up the hat. So I’ve decided to make a peppermint striped hat.
The only mods are that you don’t follow the numbers in the pattern for the first strip before you begin joining. When you have the right number of rows look at the first row and make however many rows you need to get to the same colour in the yarn. The first stitch you pick up for the join should be the same colour as the last stitch on your baby finger. The line will appear as you keep spiraling around, then just finnish the hat as normal.
