Notes

This sweet little cardi is for a baby boy so I have left out Lace Pattern #1 (Flowers) on the bottom hem.

21/8 - Finished the knitting side of things and now just need to sew up the arm seams, get buttons and sew them on and then block it.

A couple of quick notes about the pattern to help others

  • “Work 7 rows even” - means to work in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for a total of 7 rows.

  • I added 6 extra rows to the body (3/4 inch) - I didn’t need to add more rows because I had the correct length at the end of the body but thought I would add a few more because it looked rather short.

  • Correction on the sleeve - “Repeat the last 6 rows 3X (46sts)” should read Repeat the last 6 rows 3X more for a total of 4 repeats.

  • Buttonhole row on every 10th row of Lace Pattern #2.

Such a quick knit but funny construction of the Yoke. However, this is my first bottom to top knit so maybe that is why I find it strange ?

The first few rows of the Yoke was a strain on the hands and needles so I transferred all my stitches onto a 100cm cable and found it to be easier. I worked out if I bunched my already knit stitches on the right needle as close as possible to the tip and did the same on the left needles it wasn’t as tight. (If you have already knit from this pattern you will know what I mean about being a struggle - If you haven’t and thinking about knitting it then you are about to find out)

If I was to knit it again I would probably figure out a way to knit to top down and incorporate the sleeves in the Yoke instead of knitting them separately and doing any seam work.
