Pithy directions for HAT beneath notes.

Reminder to me:
Cast on for bigger sweater, using US8 to do most of the knitting.

Bind off on the wrong side (I like the purl bumps on the edges of garter)

Sleeves: Pick up 4 extra stitches when beginning sleeves. Work last two rounds of sleeves with US 7 needle.

Collar: button placement, tie waste yarn on the ladder between stitches to mark where buttons go. This worked really well. Bind off using bamboo US 10.5

Hat for a 6 month old.
I used US 7 dpns

Cast on 56 stitches. Join for working in the round. Knit one round, wrap and turn first stitch of round (1st stitch on next needle)
Work in garter stitch for 2.5 inches.
Work in stockinette until hat measures 3.5”
Decrease as follows:
Round 1: K6, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 2 and all even rounds: Knit
Round 3: K5, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 5: K4, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 7: K3, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 9: K2, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 11: K1, k2tog, repeat from around,
Round 12: K2tog: repeat from around,

Knit two together until 4 stitches remain, then work I-cord to desired length.

Break yarn, thread blunt tapestry needle and run yarn through all remaining 4 stitches. Pull tight and weave end.
