Notes

Mods: Using a tighter gauge than pattern specifies with a size 13 needle. (now that the afghan is done, I think the drape of the fabric would be even nicer if I had used 11 needles - it is very nice, but more drapey than I’d like after washing it)

Also - note to self for making future knitted afghans. This one gained 7” in width after washing it. The length remained the same.

2” seed stitch border

CO 117
Work in seed stitch for 2”, increasing 5 sts across last row of seed stitch. Total of 122 sts

Continue with a 6 stitch seed stitch selvedge on both edges and otherwise work pattern as written

When blanket measures 58” and pattern is balanced, decrease 5 sts evenly across last row and work a 2” seed stitch border.

When I cast on for this afghan, I started listening to an audio Bible reading available through Bible Gateway.com. I got well into Psalms - which is about half way through the Bible. - Old Testament Blanket. What a fun thought!

This blanket was not difficult - but it was monotonous after a while. However - I REALLY like it. It is rich looking. Pictures just don’t do it justice.

Also - in case you are wondering about the Red Heart Super Saver. I’ve washed this blanket in the washing machine and popped it into the dryer. It came out very soft and no pilling. I really prefer knitting with wool, but you just can’t beat how serviceable this afghan will be. Very easy to care for. I’ve got a 40 year old afghan that has been in the washing machine and dryer OVER 40 times and it is still a treasure. No one can believe much its been used and how good it still looks.

Used ALL but a tiny bit of 6 skeins (7 oz each)
