Thanks to my good friend CableIntrigue for taking pictures!!!! I was not going to bother. So thankful that she took the time and trouble. Thanks friend!!!

Yarn held double
Size US 10
Seed stitch border (9sts on sides and 3” at top/bottom)
Written instructions (I always use charts when given a choice but the written instructions just work for this)

137 Suggested number of cast on stitches
+18 for a 9st seed stitch border
-11 to reduce flare (add back in at last row of border
145

  • Crochet Cast On 144 sts. Work seed stitch for 3”

  • Slip last stitch of each row with yarn held in front

  • This cast on and the slipped edges make a lovely match for a typical cast off.

  • Increase 11 stitches evenly across last row of seed stitch

  • 155 (157 if you work the selvedge stitch as in pattern) stitches per row in body of afghan

Remember to decrease 11 sts in first row of top border.

Remember to work the corrections noted in my first version of this afghan

6/8/2013 Completed 3” seed stitch border and increased 11 stitches in last row of border.

6/9/2013 - Its 10:30 Pm and I’m just getting a chance to sit and work on this.

6/29/2013 - finished the bottom motifs and the leaves of chart three that go all the way across the blanket. Starting the 3” stockinette section.

7/7/2013 - HALF DONE! (half-way through mid section)

7/14/2013 - Finished with the big center section! but … a loud scream pierced the night!

8/10/2013: I need this blanket for 8/23 - Shelly’s birthday. Donald’s wedding is next week, so I’ll lose the week to the wedding … MUST KNIT! Almost halfway done with the upper charts. Row 23 of Chart I.

8/20/2013 Finished top panels (Charts I and II) and remembered to decrease 11 stitches to limit flare along the top border.

8/21/2013 - DONE!
