Notes

Posted some unblocked quick pics - including one of the embarrassingly recalcitrant back neckline. once it’s dry I’m expecting to do the same as Netteke did and reduce the overall number of stitches on final lines in order to try to sort this. I expect unpick the neckline back to 1 before the contrast line and try a small number of reductions to reduce the curling at the back (included a quick pic of this.) (these will have to be limited to avoid a back ‘hump’.) Apart from this issue, really enjoyed knitting this - the shoulders are very ingenious construction.

Mods - not really - just made it longer as required. I did jump sizes - I started with a 34, went in more at the waist and then went up to a 36 by the bustline. I did start the neckline 5 rows 8 rows earlier as I knew it would go better with some of my wardrobe. This shouldn’t have caused the issues with the final neckline - the front of the neckline lies very well.

Just a quick note on reading the instructions. I did get thrown a few times by having the bold type in the middle of a section (such as the decreases on page 81.) I’m sure this works for most readers, but for me it was like having commas in the wrong place in sentence - it kept throwing off my following the instructions properly. In the end I went through and put pencilled boxes around the separate sections in order to avoid sloppy mistakes.

April 22nd. Finished but not completely satisfied. It fits well up to the underarm, but the depth of the armhole is a little big - throwing out the neckline and shoulders. Will see if I can sort by blocking - if this does not work I’ll likely at least redo the neckline to reduce some of the stitches.

April 5th: Okay, when I said it would take awhile I didn’t expect it to be quite this long. I’ve actually got a little bit more time to work on it now so it’s no longer sitting on the shelf moping at me. Luckily winter in Canada is hanging on (just for me I’m sure) so I may even get a few chances to wear it before it gets to hot.

this may take awhile, as I’m in the middle of planning a major move.

finally realised why this has been pulling teeth to knit - the join is going on my interchangeables. paused awaiting a new cable.
