I love, love, love my tree skirt!!! The aran patterns were exactly what I had in mind when I pictured my “perfect” tree skirt. The KP Bare (doubled) is just right for this project. Its lower price makes this an economical project, given the size. I blocked the skirt quite aggressively to match up with my ginormous tree. If we get a smaller tree, I would reblock.
As I was knitting, some coworkers were teasing that it could also serve as a shawl if my shoulders were to get cold. Really, they are right.

- Adding the contrast color band after the sections are complete.
- Using I-cord ties to keep edges together.
November 2: I didn’t get section 9 done in October but I know that I can get this finished by the first of December. For November, sections 9, 10 and 11, and the edging will be knitted and completed! Knitting is going a wee bit slower and flipping this hefty thing is getting quite cumbersome.
October 1: I can’t believe I’m still on schedule to have this done by the first of December. Sections 7, 8, and 9 will be done this month and I will finish up sections 10 and 11, and the border in November.
September 16: I’m into the 5th section and will complete the 6th by the end of the month.
August 31: 3 sections done! I’m really liking the pattern but now I wish I had left out the bobbles and put a cable in its place.
August 17: The first section is done…10 more to go!! It took about 5 hours to complete one section. As I memorize the cables, the sections should take less and less time.
August 11: Oh, for pete’s sake..I have to frog the first 21 rows I’ve just completed. Let’s just say that on the wrong side, there’s an area that I should have been knitting the purls and purling the knits. Back to the drawing board.
