These photos are of a prototype stocking I did a while back. It really isn’t difficult, just complicated in the cuff section. As far as I can tell, historically accurate, judging by photos of the stockings in Rutt’s A History of Hand Knitting.

I found new pictures of the stocking and am revising my pattern to reflect new knowledge of the originals. The old pattern is still available, don’t know when the new one will be up. I’m knitting samples now. The new cuff (pictured in gray) is worked at about 15 stitches per inch. The chevron stripes are more shallow, and the ‘florets’ band is also a little different. The leg will remain much the same, but has two more panels. The heel and gusset area are very different. The foot remains much the same, but more panels. The toe shaping is almost identical to the previous pattern.

Errata!! on the original pattern linked here, Rnd 24 should read: Knit 2, Purl 4, knit 3, (yarn over, slip one purlwise, knit two together, pass slipped stitch over, yarn over). Repeat from across.
A typo put the asterisk in the wrong place. Sorry!
