I had a request for a pair of mittens for one of my SCA friends. She wanted the warmth of a mitten, but the flexibility of having a ‘trigger’ finger with which to grip things. Since she was a Queen at the time, I said I’d do it. While this mitten isn’t entirely period, it at least doesn’t look totally modern.

These work up fairly quickly, since they are worsted weight, but are tight-knit enough to keep things toasty.
