I really like Junko’s designs. They are so much fun to knit. Just when you have enough of the fair isle, there’s cables!
But there are things in this pattern style that will in no way work for my body-type (gorgeous on Junko and others but I could never pull it off - I would look very dowdy). So I’ve modded quite a bit.
1 : tobacco
2 : opal
3 : silver grey
4 : ember
5 : goldcrest
6 : flannel grey
7 : pussywillow
Evoking the Swedish 60/70’s with this one….wanted it to look like one of my mormor’s tablecloths.
Mods:
provisional cast on 200 stitches to knit up for a lower neckline.
More fair isle rounds on sleeves to drop the cable part of sleeves lower.
No more increases after section 6 = 480 stitches
87 stitches each sleeve. 306 stitches body + 12 x 2 for underarms = 330 body.
Increase 6 stitches for repeat of section 5. Increase 4 stitches for repeat of section 6.
After section 8 2x2 rib hem
Sleeves: pick up 10 stitches st underarm and knit around. Knit 1 sleeve and 1 underarm stitch together each side of underarm next round = 2 stitches decreased. (95 st). Next round lose 5 stitches evenly around = 90 stitches. Start section 8 of pattern.
Add 6 stitches for repeat of section 5. Then add 1 stitch every 5 for 116 stitches total. No garter transition between fair isle and cable. Start cable 1 chart at row 6. No decreases. Knit 54 rows of pattern. 116 stitches. K2 tog P1 around to last 2 stitches. K1 P1. (78 st). K1 P1 1 round. K1 P1 2nd round but when you get to the cable knots K3tog tbl P1 and K3tog (62 st).
Still plenty roomy!
