On advice from friend, changed to 5mm hook to suit the yarn ply! Pattern size 4mm was too tight with this weird yarn.

Making for baby of my son’s friend, Tracy.

Body - will use up any remaining yarn to increase length to get more wear beyond 12 months old. Finished measurement was 20cm from under sleeve.

Sleeves - picked up 40 underarm stitches, instead of 32 in pattern. Hopefully this will extend wear past 12 months old. Though it makes sleeves too wide so unravelled to second row from underarm decreasing 5 stitches at rows 3 and 5 to reach 30 stitches rather than pattern count of 32. Also decided to work in a spiral from row 3 instead of slipstitch join.
Update - First time around underarm to wrist measured 15cm, but found out baby’s arm was already that long. So to extend wear time, and given can’t give it them for two months until end October, used up rest of yarn to lengthen sleeves to 20cm, Total of 12xx double crochet (UK) rows, plus 2 single crochet (UK) rows.

Hem - added a scallop edge using this video

Buttons - created 3 buttonholes, rather than just one. Also larger hole. Modified second row:
Ch 1, 1 sc in first sc, chain 2, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc repeat from * twice more for additional button holes, then sc to end of row.

Just need to add 3buttons.
Might lengthen sleeves as I have lengthened body…
