I am knitting this as it reminds me of a favourite cardigan of my mother’s - the colour and the mohair yarn. She sadly passed away this July 2020. She was a great knitter and gave me all her needles after her sight deteriorated. I returned the favour of knitting for her like she knitted for me - Crocus, birthday sweater, mukluks, blanket, wrap.
Used cable cast on recommended by others and used this video
Started with 4.5mm but switched to 5mm to get gauge. Tried cable cast on but too tight so switched to thumb cast on (E loop). Knitted 4 rows of stockinette for cast on edge.
Buttonholes - as the mohair is as light as fingering yarn, buttons will be quite small and light weight, used
yarn over k2tog, every 16 rows from row 6 to bottom. (Alternative technique by Cheryl Brunette - see video.)
Sleeves - switched back to 5 mm needles and knitted both before continuing body as only had so much wool. Used yarnover bind off - Knit the first 2 stitches, pull the first stitch over the second (traditional bind off). Wrap the yarn around the right hand needle (yarnover). Pull the first stitch over the yarnover. Knit the next stitch and bind off 1 stitch. Repeat * (Cast on, Bind off by Leslie Ann Bestor, p164.
Body - Length would be whatever yarn was left, using 4.5 mm needles.
Eyelet increases - calculator - however didn’t use. Just increased every 3 stitches.

Used short rows to extend back as it was riding up - added about 8 rows. Found a few techniques: https://www.barrettwoolco.com/blogs/news/adding-short-row...
