7.21.10: Y’all just have to be patient…I can’t put up any photos or really specific details until the magazine launch. :)
Garment details: The body of the garment is worked flat in one piece from the bottom up, and then the stitches are separated to work the armholes. The sleeves are worked in the round and then seamed.
The coat has quite a bit of ease in it (3.5-4.5” -- it’s a cold-weather coat afterall), but it still has shaping to make it more fitted. The reversible stitch patterning in the collar allows it to be worn up, down or halfway down.
When I first conceived of the idea, I originally had wanted the coat to be a little shorter, but in the end, I decided that having a slightly longer skirt was better for such a garment. If you prefer a shorter skirt on the coat, it’s rather easily adaptable. I really wanted a coat that can fit and flatter most body types. (Granted, I know no design will fit everyone.) Because I am large busted, I tend to favor shaped garments, especially in coats because you are usually wearing other layers underneath and I hate looking like I’m pregnant when I’m not.
This is my very first design for Twist Collective. I have to say that I really love the final results that they presented. I also have not experienced a more detailed review process, which I loved.
