This is yarn I bought as a souvenir in Madrid last year. It’s cotton, linen, and silk, but feels like cheap dishcloth cotton — much more stringy/twiney than soft. There were several knots in the skeins. I do like the subtlety of the dye, though; these aren’t flat black and cream. I’m hoping that when woven, a tumble in the dryer will bring everything together and make it more cohesive.
Note to self: When you get to the end, weave 4 picks of cream and then do a 2x2 hemstitch, to make the ends match.

Ack! Broke a warp thread. I’ve followed some advice from Handwoven on how to use a T-pin to anchor a new thread in place, and then fasten the new length of yarn to something weighted to hang off the back of the loom. I am experimenting with a cluster of Zen Magnets (neodymium magnet balls) clumped through and around the butterfly loop of yarn. So far, so good -- enough weight to give tension, not enough to break anything. And now I need to try to keep the rest of the yarn under a bit less tension!

Ugh. The tension on the warp got WAY out of whack and now one end of the wrap is diagonal. The fabric is all wobbly, too. Bah. I need to weave in some ends where there were broken threads, and then throw it in for a heavy duty wash and dry to see if I can salvage it… Maybe the wonkiness won’t be so obvious when it’s been beaten up a bit. Or maybe it will be dishtowels.

Well, I washed the scarf on HOT and tumble-dried it, and it’s a miracle! It’s SOFT, not twiny/stringy, and it’s very nearly squared up, despite the diagonal nonsense during the weaving! It’s not perfect but it’s pretty damn good, considering I almost scrapped the whole thing.
Final measurements: 4’7” long plus about 4.5” fringe on either end. 15” wide. (Wish I had persevered with the weaving for a few more inches to make it that bit longer -- but it’s perfectly adequate.)
