This is my winter crochet rug project 2014
It is a granny patch fusion in lush soft creamy alpaca/Merino yarn using Popcorn stitch & V-stitch granny squares. Just the right weight for cooler subtropical nights.

18 x flower squares, 18 plain cream v-stitch squares joined as pattern diagram plus Border in 3 cols – as diagram

Pattern is adaptation of Geneva Warren’s Mum’s the Word crochet rug in Leisure Arts #108205, Herrschners Blue-Ribbon Afghans p. 40-41, using EQ7 design layout software.

Flower Squares:
The Red centre is a single chain spiral.
The Gold petals are popcorn stitch
8 popcorns 1st round, 16 (doubles) popcorns 2nd round
The Green leaf square around the popcorns is a mix of 2x trc separated by 2 ch in corners & dc across
The outer creamy col is V-stitch with corners 2 v-stitch separated by 2ch
