ESK KAL- FREESTYLE!
MAY 2016.
-Walk like an Estonian (20 pts)
Thoughts from other projects.
-So as not to run out of yarn, maybe do 12 repeats of the Flower Chart.
-Use markers as liberally as needed
-Weigh Your skein and then decide if you’d like to do Nupps, though they’re kinda why I chose this project.
-Take deep breaths, it’s not complicated so much as it’s fiddly and not to be rushed!

Knitting Nupps using technique shown in this video.
…
Okay, so about that technique. I have NO IDEA where my larger crochet hooks got off to so I tried loosely doing it with a 3.5 mm one. No dice, they were sloppy, loose, and pretty small. After the first row, I went back to doing them the traditional way and I’m much happier with the look of them.
So Flower Border chart rows 1-10 complete today.

Blocked!
Final Thoughts: This pattern was not necessarily difficult, but very easy to mess up… but so is most lace. I found the traditional method of making nupps to be easier than trying to hack them, and the “Make 3 into 9”’s harder than that. If I knit it again, I would probably bind off knit-wise rather than purl-wise. Or do a Lace bind-off which was my first instinct and I ignored it.
