Fleece to yarn !

Combed the fiber on St. Blaise Combs and spun worsted from nest.

I have to hold my hands sooooo far apart. I’ve developed a weird kinda draft, move hands, swap hands, draft, repeat kinda method to spin this. It is hard to describe, but the staple length seems like 12 inches in places. That might be a slight exaggeration though. Once I make more nests, I’ll take better note of what it actually is.

This was my first time combing fiber… and boy did I bite off more than I could chew. It took so many passes to get the neps and vm reduced. I eventually just had to stop so I ended up with some top, and not just all waste. The waste makes nice rolags though, so its not all lost yet.

Plenty more fleece left to go !

Nearly done spinning the singles from this first test batch and will post photos of those when done. I haven’t decided how I want to ply it yet.
