Notes

The pattern is really easy and knits up quickly, and I’m very much pleased with the result. Overall the pattern is really clear and easy to follow. I only had some minor issues. It was unclear from the pattern what the effect was of the small and extended lace section. Looking at a lot of finished projects from others made it clear to me, but it would’ve been nice if the pattern had specified it too. The placement of the stitch markers wasn’t too clear from the pattern either, you have to identify the center stitch and count from there. But for the rest of the pattern this center stitch doesn’t have any special role, and counting from the sides was easier for me.
I was also having some minor issues with the chart: the stitches on the sides of the pattern repeat don’t stack onto each other as it appears from the chart. The same is true for row 17 of the small lace section. I don’t know to what extend this is normal for patterns, as this is only my second lace scarf.

June 27: All done and blocked! :D

June 23: I finished the border, which was again fun to knit. I know now that I prefer patterns with lots of different rows. Adding the beads is fairly easy. I use Oboegoddess’ method to add them (thanks for the clear description, Oboegoddess!). My beads are not shiny, which makes them almost look like studds. Perfect! The stitch markers moved one stitch to the right on the 9th row. In total, I used 231 beads.

June 18: Finished the extended lace section, jeej! It got a bit boring in the end.

June 5: Didn’t touch my knitting again for 2 weeks or so, but today I finally had time again. I finished the small lace section. I can see the pattern emerging now, and I’m starting to like it more and more.

May 17: I didn’t have much time lately, but I finally made it past row 17, where the stitch markers move. Why?? One of the most useful things of a chart is that you can see how the stitches stack on to each other. But at this point this pattern is written such that you can’t. Even though it would’ve been so easy to not do it this way (as in the extended lace section).

May 10: I reached the lace section today. This pattern is surprisingly easy so far. I didn’t switch to larger needles, I like it more if the lace sort of emerges from the body.

May 3: I started over, this time without the stitch markers. They were distracting me and got me out of my rhythm. So I’ll do some counting later on.

April 26: I fell in love with Mshoneybee’s Cloud Illusions, so I cast on for my own. I’ll go for the smaller body though.
