I love the end result! I thought it would be nice, but it turned out even nicer than I thought. The mixing of colors feels almost like painting.

Some general observations:
Don’t make blocks too large (more specifically, too many stitches wide). The blocks will only be a true square if the number of stitches and the number of rows in your gauge are equal. This will be less of a problem if your squares are not too big, and if you knit the blanket as four equal blocks that face each other. It’s not advised to use only one corner of the pattern to make a smaller size, because it wouldn’t hold its shape very well.

9/12: Lined and blocked, baby can be born now! :D

1/12: The knitting is finished! This thing is quite heavy. Bought the lining, so working on that now.

28/11: All blocks are sewed together, and I started the border. For a minute I forgot to use two strands of yarn, so I had to start over… Stupid me.
I pick up 26 stitches per block.

18/11: Third block of four finished. If from now on my toddler could sleep through the evenings, that would be of massive help, thank you!

28/10: Half way with the squares, second block of four finished :)

27/10: Yeey, got more yarn! I somehow lost some of the blue yarn :/. One skein more of each color (and two more of the blue). I got some off-white yarn for the edge. EDIT: found the skein, it was stored away with the left overs from my previous project…

22/10: I’m doing this in four times four squares. That way, the result is most likely to be square too, and not some other unintended shape. And the way in which it stretches works evenly in all directions. I have now finished the first two squares of the next block. It knits up quickly, but it’s not boring because of the separate blocks and decreases in the middle.

15/10: First four squares finished :).

11/10: This knits up so quickly! It’s a lovely pattern to knit, and it’s still surprising to me that it’s possible to knit straight lines, and nevertheless end up with a square. I’m knitting this with yarn held double, so I’m not doing stripes, I simply knit with two colours at the same time. Even quicker.

Cast on 53 sts. Horizontally picking up 27 sts, vertically picking up 26 sts. This gives me squares of 18x18 cm.

07/10: What a hassle to order this pattern… You have to have an address in the US to be able to purchase this. I found one you can use for this in the comments of the pattern. You also need to provide a phone number, but mine was flagged as ‘not correct’, probably because there were too many digits. So that’s an incorrect one now too, not my problem. Paying with Paypall was also not possible with my Dutch address. Annoying!
