Notes

I really liked this project. The pattern was relatively easy to follow and the end result looks lovely. I only had some minor issues with it. The stitch markers shift one stitch to the right in Chart C, which isn’t necessary: it doesn’t happen in Chart D. It has to do with the placement of the repeat, shifting it by one stitch would solve it. The other issue I had was with the last row of the last chart. There are three consecutive yo’s on either side, but no instructions on how to handle them on the ws row. I also miss instructions on whether to bind off on the ws or on the rs. I did like the fact that there were instructions on how to block, although I think the border would’ve looked better if I had not followed the instructions to block it folded in half.

Some notes on the yarn: I love how warm and cushy the end result is. It was really pleasant to work with, which I didn’t really expect, to be honest. It did give off a lot of colour when washing it, so don’t wash this together with anything else!

26/5/16: Done!! Only waiting to get blocked.

24/5/16: Finished Chart E, only binding off left. I did one more ws row after Chart E. There are no instructions on how to handle those three consecutive yo’s on either side. What I did was k3, p1, k1, p rest of the row, k1, p1, k3.

23/5/16: Only one more row of the last chart to go! Only thing I’m in doubt about now is whether I’m supposed to bind of on a right side row or a wrong side row. There are no instructions on this in the pattern. I’ve been looking at other finished projects, but I can’t find an answer. I’ll go with right side then, if it were wrong side I’m sure it would’ve been made explicit.
I found a mistake in my work about four rows back, two of the decreases just before the middle of the work were shifted by one stitch. I decided to correct it by sliding off a few stitches (after inserting a lifeline below the error). It felt a bit dangerous, but I did it! And I’m happy I did so :).

27/4/16: Finished chart D! It’s really growing on me, this large, blue thing ;). This chart was easy, the pattern was simple to remember and easy to read. The stitch markers don’t shift on this one, so this placement in the pattern is better than the one in chart C.

25/2/16: Still working on this, in between other projects. I’ve done the first three rs rows of chart C now. Until now, the pattern was very easy, but now I have to pay attention. It’s not as easy as it seemed to me to ‘repeat the pattern in mirror image’, I constantly have to think which way my decreases should lean. Luckily, I can quite easily read my work and check what it should be. I do find it a bit hard to remember the repeat, as it is a repeat over as many as 18 stitches. In case you’re using stitch markers (as I do): in Chart C they move one stitch to the left from row 5 onwards.

9/10/15: Ok, I’d never have chosen this yarn by myself, waaaay too blue. But it’s actually turning out rather nicely, and the yarn is pleasant to work with :).

Had the yarn, had the pattern, casted on :).
