Notes

I really liked this project, even though it was on the edge of what I could chew. The lace wasn’t too complicated, but I found it hard sometimes to read my work, especially with the double yarn overs. So sometimes I had made a mistake and only noticed at the end of the row, thus having to rip back. But I’d like to stress that all mistakes I made were entirely due to my own incapacity to knit lace and watch Game of Thrones/Dr. Who at the same time. They were definitely not due to the pattern, which was really well written.

I learned quite a lot during this project. Like how to make 16 stitches in a triple yarn over. And like not trying to do lace knitting while watching series. And like not starting projects any bigger than this, or I won’t enjoy it anymore when the rows are getting really long.

Sept 24: DONE! :D
The crochet cast-off took a while, but wasn’t hard (even though I never crocheted before). It was just a bit fiddly to get my crochet hook under five stitches on my knitting needle. I’m glad I chose this cast-off, I’ve been doubting for quite some time.

Sept 20: I finished the charts!

Sept 16: This thing is getting so big… And the rows are looong….

Sept 7: I finally made some good progress again. Everything went really well, and I discovered that making 16 in a triple yarn-over is much easier than it seems: the yarn-overs are stretchy enough to give you the room to make all those stitches. You just have to pay attention on the next row to not switch some of those stitches, they sometimes crawl under each other.
I had made some mistake at the beginning of row 25, so the whole pattern had shifted, but I only noticed that towards the end of that row. And my lifeline was too far back, so I had to knit back the whole row… Apparently watching Game of Thrones and lace knitting don’t go well together, who could’ve known ;). But I fixed it now, and everything is well again. I hope, at least, it’s hard to know for sure before blocking…

Aug 10: I started the border, but there was some mistake in there after the first two rows: the third row didn’t line up with the first as it should. So I had to rip back to my lifeline and do it again. I finally did that today, and now it’s alright again :).

July 26: Vacation is over, so high speed is over… I finally finished the interlude though, so I’m ready for the lace border. And then three pages of my pattern flew out of the window, onto a roof that I can’t reach. So I’ll have to print again before I can continue…

July 11: I’ve been working on this one on high speed: I finished the body yesterday and started the interlude today. I must have forgotten to make a stitch somewhere, as I was missing one after the body repeats. So I made one extra somewhere on the side. I guess that’s what makes it recognizable as handmade ;).

June 30: I can’t remember the four-row repeat for the body, and wanted charts. They weren’t there for this part of the pattern, so I drew up my own. Made things considerably easier and quicker for me.

June 29: That cast on, wow! It’s genius. How does someone figure that out? I was able to enjoy it twice, the first time my stitch count was off for some reason.
