June 22, 2024: Using LMFA Heirloom and Knit Picks Buoy for the cuffs, and Knit Picks North Pole Heather for the body.

To cast on = foot circ x gauge x 0.9

This is for someone with a 22cm foot and leg. I am a tight knitter. So, I am doing 72 sts on US0 needles for the cuff and 76sts on US1 needles for the body.

LTCO 72 sts on US #1.5 (2.5mm) needles. Transferred to 2mm needles for the cuff. Used this video by Assia Brill to do a smooth join in the round. I really like this method.

I knit the first row of the color change on the cuff as a plain knit row. I also carried the yarn up the rows in the back instead of breaking it at every color change. I used Summer Lee’s suggestions from her book on “catching” the float in the back on the first stitch of every two or three rounds to carry the color up. Also used this video by Patty Lyons at the 30 sec mark to do the jogless joins.

Change to US1 needles. Knit a plain row in blue after the cuff. Increased stitch count to 76 on this plain row and began cable chart on US1 needles.

These socks fit my 22cm foot perfectly!
