May 30, 2023: I started these socks a few days back. GTCO 72 sts on 2.5mm needles. Changed to 2.0mm immediately and knit the socks on them.

Used reinforcing nylon yarn for the heel turn. Added stripes before the toe.

For the wedge toe, I knit 2 plain rows between the decrease rows for the first two sets of decreases. Then I decreased on every alternate row until 14 sts remained. Reduced to 12 sts on the next row. Kitchener close.

I intended these socks to fit my son’s foot (shoe size US 11.5 to 12; 11” long foot). Kinit Picks Stroll is a beautiful yarn. However, it is thinner and works up best on US #0 needles. For reasons that are beyond me, while I correctly knit these socks on US#0 needles, I forgot to increase the stitch count by 4 - 8 sts (76 - 80 sts total)! So guess what, there was a struggle to pull this up my son’s ankle and and let’s just say that the socks lost the tug of war.

I am happy to report that the socks have found happy feet (my brother-in-law’s) who was delighted with their coziness.

Lesson learned: Be mindful of gauge, especially for a new (to you) yarn!
