A week ago the Handwerkbeurs was about to start. 11 years prior, in 2011, my mom and I took a workshop Temari there. I saw that that very same workshop was offered again this time. It got me thinking about Temari again. The last I’d done was back in 2013.

A bit of searching in my bookcase turned up two Barbara B. Suess books (currently not in print, I feel very fortunate to have these now!) and a search around online lead me to Dana K. Watson’s Temari Classes page including the reference to her Twitch channel where she currently does livestreams three times a week. How cool is that! I started watching them, live and from the previous couple of weeks and it spurred me on to dig up my supplies and get going!

Yesterday I wrapped my first ball in almost a decade, this time using baby yarn on top of the styrofoam ball (one day I will use a different core ‘like the pros’ but I have a box full of balls bought for this purpose), power wrapping with four cones and the final wrap in black. I started stitching during the livestream, first an obi (band around the equator) and started a kiku. I’m back!

Decided to give each mari it’s own page after all. I had to (re-)estimate how much supersoft I used on this and the next two mari. Will keep better track for future mari.

Finished! I felt sorry for this one after working along with Dana’s projects for a while and want to start a new Mari that isn’t part of the twitch lessons so I decided to finish it. I did layered 8 point kiku’s in 2 colors on the other side and added some decorative stitching to the obi.
