Notes

Sample for class to be taught September 22nd or October 1st 2013; 2:30-5:30 pm. This will review the knit/garter stitch and we’ll learn long tail cast-on and continental knitting. I’ll also help you learn how to fix mistakes as needed. :) This would be a great class for anyone who is looking for a review or to refresh their knitting skills as well!

You do not need to use the Red Heart Team Spirit if you don’t want - but if you have a medium weight yarn that will do. You can also use a single color or make stripes with two colors - I’ll show you how to change colors and rejoin yarn. The pattern suggests a size 10 needle but I did mine with a size 9.**

Here’s a matching hat! There is a link to the Schooner hat in this that includes a pom pom at the top as well. These call for Aran weight which is a little thicker but you could easily still use the Team Spirit or another Worsted Weight if you like (and as such you could use an Aran for your scarf!).

Here’s another matching hat! Using the same stitch you can knit this flat or in the round - but remember if you are in the round you will have to purl every other row! Also note this pattern uses Super Bulky yarn so if you want to use the same yarn you’ll have to double or triple it up. Alternatively you could use Lion Brand Jiffy, Wool Ease Thick & Quick, Hometown USA, or any other super bulky yarn.

Here’s some matching fingerless gloves! Again these use garter stitch and are worked flat and seamed up the side. They’ll complete your set! These are also super fun to make as gifts - especially those working in cold winter office cubes!

9/10/13: Finished the scarf. Honestly a person will not likely be able to finish this in the 3 hour class period but we should be able to get half way. I will still show you binding off again during the class.
I didn’t end up using the entire skein for this scarf although I imagine you could if you wanted. I’m going to see if I can get a pair of fingerless gloves out of it. You could also add fringe at the bottom edges for some flair!**
