Why not honor the April Blizzard of 2018 with a new project? This has been burning a space in both my queue and stash for years so it’s time. I find the beads and cabling futzy but I’ve done one repeat and the look is worth it so far.
Settled on using the Knitted cast-on (I usually default to long-tail but it wasn’t looking right with this pattern)
5/13: considered frogging this last night as I am unsure about how this yarn is pooling & flashing. Thought maybe I should have alternated every few rows with a solid but at this point I’m pretty far in so not wanting to completely start over. I looked to see if there were any other projects with yarn that had this much variation in color - found one in Lorna’s Laces but I think those colors are not quite as contrasting.
Doing both beads and a cable is a bit finicky and makes this project a bit less travel-friendly. I should research to see if people have found better ways of keeping beads/hooks/cable needles more accessible but not require a table and a space free of energetic children! Plus it’s hard to sit back as I have to reach for those items off my table every so often. This keeps me awake and involved but it’s harder to relax.
6/30 - blocking and drying now. It is very pretty BUT I see that my skeins were not quite the same color. Same dyelot but one had light blue and the other just a greenish color. I don’t think it’s too noticeable when worn so I’ll still enjoy. Found a few more errors I made - an extra yo inside of a cable and such. But I did enjoy the pattern. Easy to get used to, even if a bit finicky with both cables and beads.
Yarn relaxed out a LOT after wetting - I just read somewhere that this is typical of superwash yarn (which this is). I’m glad since I wanted something a bit more lanky and I think it shows the colors off better with this yarn.

One of my favorite scarves - I wear this all the time. Probably due to using more neutral colors - I have to get better about that! Rainbows are tempting but hard to wear…
