UPON PROJECT CREATION: Funny thing, I was already planning on making another one of these -- but now I’m going to get ESK Booster Club “Double Vision” badge credit for it! w00t!!
I think I’ll finish seaming my Manta Jeito first, though.
NOTES: Using the next size smaller hook, an H/5.0mm, this time, because I want it a bit tighter than it was last time. I had been expecting it to felt down a lot more, into a tighter almost-hole-less weave, and it didn’t.
Also, I think I will want to seam this one differently. Maybe TBL would be too weak -- I want it super sturdy. So I’ll have to try some out.
UPON COMPLETION: This bag goes so fast! I barely had time to take pictures during the process. Finished up the assembly last night and took my coupon over to Joann for the handles. They’re microfiber (so, machine washable AND durable) and cost less than $4 after discounts and such.
My construction this time around is VERY sturdy. I double-wrapped the initial “magic loop” of each square, so they’ll hold really well. I did, however, seam through back loops only. Looking at it now, I think that was silly -- you can’t see the detail that resulted from it. I would just as soon seam through both loops.
I’m not super happy with the colors that came out. Too much of the red and orange, and not nearly enough of the green and blue. If I were more patient and perfectionist…ic(?), I would have picked out just the colors I wanted. I would also probably put in a lining, which I may still do. But for now, I’m really, REALLY happy with this bag and the first that I made. The longer straps make it so I’m more likely to use it on a daily basis.
