LOVE this pattern! I’m no hipster - (according to the google) a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream - eh?! Anyhow, this design does have a slightly bohemian feel to it…this I can embrace.

Design: a very speedy DK shawl that is simple yet striking. Love the generous crescent shape that can be tossed around the shoulders with ease (in a bohemian manner, of course) and the textured bands combined with the ‘lace’ detail is really quite lovely. I’m also a bit of a tassel fan - and so this shawl design was made for me!! Who doesn’t like a bit movement to their outfit - a gust of wind to the hair, or a floaty top (God forbid, a floaty skirt - eek!) …or even a tasseled shawl, no?!

Yarn: Lovely alpaca goodness from DROPS. I’m a little obsessed with Drops Puna, having knitted Lanes Cardigan with it and falling in love with the ‘baby soft’ and airy fabric which also has a really lovely halo to it. Plus, the taupe colourway is beautifully natural but yet warming to skin tone.

Design: I’ve made absolutely no mods to this shawl. It’s super speedy to knit up and really strightforward to follow. The ‘lace stitch’ detailing (I’ve no idea what this stitch is called) is a bit tricky to work - you’re essentially knitting into super elongated stitches (on account of dropping 3 YOs between each stitch) and then passing another set of elongated stitches, over them - which have the habit of falling off your needle. It takes a while to get into it, but I found a way of holding my work taught, whilst using one of my fingers to hold the stitches onto my needle, whilst I passed stitches over them. A bit fiddly at first but you soon discover your way of doing it with ease - with less swearing.

Tassels: I’ve done mine with a crochet hook and included a little 9 pic image to demonsatre how I’ve done this (last image) - super easy to do and I’m now totally addicted to making tassels - hence tassel shawl, no.2.

Overall: a thumbs up! Great DK shawl that I’ve worn plenty already.
